Amish handcrafted

Built by hand. Built to be inherited.

The furniture in our rooms is not pulled from a warehouse. It is built — one piece at a time — in family-run Amish workshops in the hills of Ohio and Indiana, by craftsmen whose fathers and grandfathers built furniture at the same benches.

The difference

What “handcrafted” actually means here.

Solid hardwood, through and through — oak, quarter-sawn white oak, cherry, brown maple, walnut — never veneer over particle board. Mortise-and-tenon joinery where furniture takes its stress. Dovetailed drawers on full-extension, soft-close slides. Finishes hand-applied and rubbed out, so the grain reads like grain.

These workshops do not hold inventory, and neither do we. When you order a custom piece, it goes on a builder’s bench — in the wood you chose, the stain you chose, the fabric or leather you chose. That takes weeks, not days. It is worth every one of them: this is the last version of that piece you will ever need to buy.

We work directly with these families — visiting the shops, paging through their catalogs, learning which bench builds the best bed and which builds the best table. That relationship is what we put in our rooms.

“A factory makes furniture for everyone. A craftsman builds it for you.”

How it works

Made to order, the old way.

  1. 1 — Find it in a room. Every custom piece lives in one of our rooms, styled the way it deserves to be lived with.
  2. 2 — Make it yours — without the guesswork. Other sites hand you forty stains and wish you luck. We have already narrowed every piece to the finishes that belong in its room — a stain or two, sometimes a painted version, hardware that works. Every choice is a right answer.
  3. 3 — Request your quote. No checkout roulette on a five-figure heirloom — you get one personal quote, delivery included, from a person who knows the piece.
  4. 4 — It gets built. Then it arrives, and it outlives us all.
